The Gram Life

The F Series: be your prepubescent self

The Cycle of Life

Prepubescent;
The world is your oyster.
The sky is the limit.
When I grow up I want to be a doctor and a movie star and a singer and a pilot.
Kids dream big.
Kids say the darnedest things.

Here comes the awkward stage.
Your gender becomes your first identity.
You discover the double standard, the glass ceiling.
Loud whispers; "know your place" , "be realistic".

I can't stand out,  I don't want everyone looking at me.
You see your place and you take it, you stay there.
Its not so bad to blend in.
Everyone else is doing it.

Its the pleasing stage of life.
My goal is to be palatable..... for others
Your voice goes underground and stays there
Holding yourself back makes others comfortable.

Don't be too smart.
Don't be too ambitious its intimidating.
Be independent but not too independent....you know what I mean?.
Is it compromise when I am doing all the changing?

Years pass and you being to wonder, Who Am I?
You do not know the scarifices I have made for you!!
"For who? for me? when? how? "
I need to find myself?
Am I  proud of  what I have become?
Lose your voice, lose yourself.
