The 40 day Challenge

I don't know about you but i am excited about this lent season. Most people use this season as an opportunity to improve themselves(getting rid  of bad habits  and get closer to God).

 My 40day challenge for this season is
- seeking God and just trying to get closer, i will be using the Girlfriends of God devotional. I started this recently and i love it. You can have them email you the daily devotional or just read it on their website, it is awesome for single women and married women.

- Start exercising, i don't exercise not because i can't, i just don't like it. Then i realized  I am in my mid 20s and there is no time like the present to start taking care of my body which will pay me in the long run. so starting the day after i leave my work site i am joining a Yoga studio (actually the one i found has a special for 25 and under for a really good price and i am a sucker for a bargain)

-  Hair care, to say i have been neglecting my hair is an understatement so in the next 40days i am going to love on my hair and in the process make it a habitual thing.

- No shopping, going with the "if i don't need it don't buy it mentality". This doesn't just apply to apparel this includes appliances, candy and pastry (NOOOOOO!!!!), eating out etc.  I live with two guys who don't cook so it is soo easy for me to pick up their eating out habit. well that's about to change.


In 40days I hope to a healthier new me and of course continue these practices even after the challenge is over. WISH ME LUCK!!!

Pa ra pa pa paaa I'm lovin' it

ohhh i know what i am loving right now ....

This is what i wear to work

 

Trust me even the girliest girls can't pull this look off ....oh i forgot one more thing that makes this outfit complete ...Oil based mud (drilling fluild) that thing gets on everything your clothes, shoes hair lungs ....

so that's what whenever i come home i try to go around looking like her (karla's blog) or her (kendi) if not i might end up looking like a little boy and start spitting tobacco or something 

5 & 15

When i was 5(actually make that 6) Aladdin had just come out  (of which i do not know how that is a children's movie with all the snakes, fire, cave of wonders, JAFAR!!!!!, just watched it recently and that movie scared the crap outta me). I remember i wanted hair like Jasmine so i would wear my clothes on my head and hold it down with a head band and flick my long locks all day (first of all no one told me Jasmine was not black).

btw i still do ...just now i can pay for it

Fast forward to 15 high school years = awkward phase ( a phase which i am still in).....what i remember most was wearing clothes to kinda hide the size of my boobs.

Here comes the......

Well unless i am the bride i will not be wearing white .....
 I LOVE WEDDINGS
So for weddings i tend to go minimalist with simple primary color dresses. For example

My War Paint!!!

First of all lemme just say i really hate wearing make up, it is sooo tiresome ....and don't get me started on taking it off Ugh !!!!

My regimen is
- foundation
-Eye liner
- mascara
- and lip gloss

I only use make up when i have a party to go to or something not a daily thing

Faux Pas aka pet peeve aka oh no you didn't

Two words that don't go together......  summer and leather boots( actually that's three words but you get what i am trying to say)

 I get the galoshes when it is raining ....it's the leather in the sun i don't get I mean are you not hot ........*kanyeshrug.*

And lesson for today is

Fashion tips i have picked up over the years are

• Less is always more( if you think it is too much ....it is probably too much)
• Never underestimate is power of a good pair of shoes( no matter how basic your outfit is the right pair of shoes will always take you to the next level of gorgeous)
• Fresh breath (need i say more)
• know your body type pick outfits that flatter your figure( what works for Kim K and Beyonce may not work for you.) 
• Take risk (normal people risk .. the world can only handle one lady gaga)

TV land

By normal people standards i watch a lot of tv....but really i don't,  i just leave the tv on for the noise. I  have only a handful of shows that i will go out of my way to watch.

Falling in love with fall

Fall is only like the best season EVER!!!....
WHY????????? because it is boots, sweaters, jackets, wearing summer clothes in the fall with a twist, hats, gloves, scarfs and tights season woohooooo
what i just described there is my ideal east coast fall wear. But alas! i am in the south i don't think they get those here (the travesty) it is soo hot and muggy here i can't ....i just can't. I may never wear my boots again *tear

How i Dress for a Date

I am not a girly girl so if i go on a date for some reason i think i should look girly, you know flowers, polka dots,  flats, skirts, dresses etc.

But one thing i can't bring myself to wear are heels, i feel like then i am trying to hard( then again i have never worn a dress on a date before). I want to be as comfortable as possible on my date. So here are some pictures of what i would wear.

The world is my Oyster!!!!!

For my fashion influences i look to the world ...people, blogs, facebook, twitter ...you name it. They all inspire me. My fave spot for inspiration is the sartorialist and karlas closet. the women and sometimes men featured on the sartorialist look soo effortlessly chic i want to look like that. And as for Karla ...she is the girly girl i wish i could be.

Buying in Large

i think I buy in bulk ….. 

My shoes, it may seem like I may not have a lot (see my shoe post) but I can’t seem to stop buying shoes. I can’t remember the last time I bought a pair of shoes full price (that’s a lie I do but that is not the issue *cough yesterday *cough) THAT WAS A FLUKE!!!!! (I promise  it was an emergency) (Traitor) . Anywho away from my personal dialogue I stalk all my shoes for like a year and as soon as they go on sale I buy them all (insert evil laugh)…

Books, this is one i am 95% sure is a problem....whenever i enter a bookstore i have to buy a book ....i walked into borders (justification they were having a closing store sale) and i but some ummm books ( so i limit all book store visitation to almost never if not i will go broke)

Mascara, (weird I know even I think it is weird)but i love buying mascara especially. All the when they are on sale - my walgreens fetish Same thing for eyeliner a total of 12

All in all ....my purchases all have one goal, a room full of shoes, a study filled with books and drawer filled with mascara and eye liners.....*sigh one day i will have these

A day in the life of........

WARNING: this post may cause shaking of head due to the slobbish nature of the writer

ok before i start i read Trois's post and was like omg i am going to wake up early and make a note of everything i did today ....that was not  what happened


7:30- first words were "crap i'm late ( yes i woke up late on what was going to be an epic blog noting day). usually i sorta kinda wake up by 6am then snooze till 7:15 also my radio wakes me up (k89.3 nothing like waking up to gospel music i tell ya)...nope not today made a mad dash for the bathroom


7:45 - Ok i usually don't plan my outfits i usually just go with what doesn't need ironing :( which isn't a lot ....(sue me i am not a morning person at all)

8:00 - 8:20 - drive to work still listening to k89.3 and planning out my day
8:30- 12pm a big blur because i was working actually make that  8- 3:30pm ( a big fat blur )

3:30 -5:30 now i am winding down for the day and kinda fooling around at work praying to go home

6pmish get home ( and i can promise you i spend at least 15mins everyday looking for my phone in my car )

6:15 after i've found my phone change into my pjs. i absolutely do not know how to put things away ...i take of my work clothes in the living room in the same place i left Monday's work clothes, Tuesday's and actually last friday's, and Thursdays will join them tomorrow  *hangs head in shame*


7pm -10 eat dinner, nothing exciting just left over pizza and watch tv on the couch till my show comes on

10-10:30 watch Chelsea lately

10:30 - till i publish this post. trying to figure out what to write and how to write it

The "Not" list

I am a pretty open person when it comes to things i'd wear but there are some trends that i can't ...i just can't ......i can't * pauses and takes in a deep breath*

*ok back*  as i was saying there are somethings i can't wear oh oh and i hate seeing them on other people. they say don't judge a book by it's cover uh uh I WILLL SOOO JUDGE YOU !!!!! beacause i am 95% sure people are judging what i am wearing too.  This list is in no particular order i hate them all equally


#1  clogs

i really hate clogs i even hate them more than crocs 

#2 Crocs ....i obviously don't need a picture because my sisters have already discussed the obscenity
 #3 short, shiny and tight dresses- ladies it is one or the other you can't have all three, in fact you can't have just 2 (less it more) pick one

nope still not cute no matter how you play it up

#4 This one is for the men

i don't get it why is the tie short WHYYY???? (please if you know anyone that has one of these get them a  real tie)

#5 Gaucho pants....... another thing i don't get *cries*

 

i feel like i have been holding this in whew!!!! by the way i have a long list of things i hate and won't wear but I'll save the rest for my therapist

Fancy Footwork

(Disclaimer this is going to be a very long-winded post on how much I love shoes.)

I love shoes I am a big shoe person, I love them on me and I love them on other people(I just love a pretty pair of shoes on a pretty girl) and my definition of shoes = heels, flats and boots (I hate sneakers although I own one sorry sis). I even sometimes appreciate men’s footwear( I mean a lot of times I think they are ugly) I see a good looking pair and I have to acknowledge good craftsmanship.

I think of my shoes as my children …I love them they love me. It is a very loving relationship. In fact, I wish I had extra feet. 

Brief History

I remember every (ok that is a lie, almost every shoe) I have owned in the last 17years and every envious thought I have had on shoes. my fave all time shoe is the red shoes I had when I was 7 maybe 8 I called them my tap dancing shoes and it had a red button where the buckle would go, I outgrew those shoes :(  if I had my way i would still be wearing it. Ok big secret I never told the shoes after the red shoes that I didn’t really like them, they wear black and shiny with a jewel like thing on them (I hate those things because well sometimes they fall off). I told my mum to put her shoes aside for me as part of my inheritance when I was 10(I remember because it was my 10^th birthday and I wanted to wear one of her shoes). On Sundays in church during thanksgiving (it’s a Nigerian thing we are thankful for everything especially on Sundays “oh my son can walk” then we celebrate in church) I would watch the women’s feet as they are walking by   sighing and saying to myself that I would own pretty shoes too. Another big secret when my sister Un, Deux and Trios went off to college I used to go to their room and wear their shoes. :)

Without Flower!!!!

Until today i did not know that i have ZERO flowers in my life ok that's a lie i have 2 dresses with flowers on them (it would have been 4 items but the 2 sets of earrings  i had  i lost one and broke the other)... TWO just two *hangs head in shame* i don't even remember the last time i wore the 2 dresses. 

I do not gravitate to the 'flowers' not my thing i guess .....i dunno also guess maybe it is because i am allergic to flowers (just thinking about flowers makes my nose itch) so i may have translated that feeling (the allergy ) into a mental one(bet you didn't know i was going to get all psychological).

sumfawintpring work attire

what is sumfawintpring  you ask.... that's (summer+fall+winter+spring)
 I wear the same clothes all year round...i don't think it is fair to break them up into seasons( how would you like it if they brought you out  one season a year, well unless you're a wool jacket /sweater/tights / boots ...... you get the gist) so I am with bella Deux

summer look = winter look minus the sweater , tights &boots= spring look minus the blazer = fall look minus the boots & tights

i still want to dress like this to work someday *day dreaming*

I just joined the work force so i can't really really talk about what i wear in the summer and i just moved to a town where it appears to be summer+ perpetual heat wave all year round (like unnecessarily hot ) so i just opt for pants blouses, dresses you know the usual.

Shopping for the Patternless

I don't even know what kind of shopper i am, I don't have a set pattern or stores that i go to, I BUY IT IF I LIKE IT ( I shopped  in maternity store once because they had really really cute dresses).   So that means I tend to do a lot of impulse buying :-/... when i need to go to the mall for something i go with exact amount ( and boy do i hate going to the mall) online shopping on the other hand is more my thing (also the bane of my existence) ...

For work

However, because I am not at the level in my career that I will comfortably wear it I opt for the same looks that my sisters’ trios and deux rock pants + blouse with flats. For these i go to express for my pants and blouses everywhere(oldnavy, express, forever 21, h&m, target etc)
